The Ikarus was not designed in a hurry to meet the demand. It was a highly successful European trainer for years before the Light Sport rules came into being.
It will fly low and slow, or cruise at approximately 100mph. Although the "published" runway length is 1,000 feet, you'll soon learn that it is off the ground seconds after you apply power, has an incredible climb rate, and can be landed in a few hundred feet with a moderate headwind.
Much roomier than the trainers of only a few years ago, the bubble-doors and windows give you plenty of arm room.
